Tracy Pospeck is a Mixed Media artist and Potter who also enjoys using her hands to create ceramic sculptures.

She derives inspiration for her works from her love of the outdoors as well as her infatuation with urban landscapes. She owns homes in Naples, Florida and in the Chelsea area of Manhattan, NYC.  She equally loves both of these cities and learns, follows and derives ideas from the art communities and moods of both of these areas.  From Florida she draws inspiration from it’s natural wildlife and landscapes. By watching “critters” in their natural habitats she gathers ideas for the subjects of her creations.  From NYC the architectural buildings and the inhabitants of the city can be seen infused in her mixed media pieces.

“I may not be an expert in all art mediums but I strive to know a little about a lot of things.”

-Tracy Pospeck

Her art and pottery may be fun and whimsical, abstract or serious.   All of her pieces are infused with “pops” of color as she believes color brings her energy and joy.

Tracy loves to teach and holds a Minor in Education as well as Master of Nursing degree from the University of Florida. She is an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) but is now on her second career creating and teaching art.  She believes that art techniques should be shared and that art and learning are an ongoing process.   She therefore learns as much from others as they learn from her. She continues to always take classes from other artists to keep updated in new techniques and wholeheartedly believes the old adages “you are never too old to learn” and that you certainly can “teach an old dogs new tricks.”

Tracy recently resigned from her position at the Woman and Children’s Abuse Shelter in Collier County as an Advocate in the Emergency Shelter (www.naplesshelter.org) where she worked for ten years. While there she had the opportunity to share her skills with pottery and mixed media with the abuse survivors living in the Shelter. She finds that art can create a very calm and healing atmosphere. Please visit www.thepotteryclub.com for further information regarding pottery.

She took the opportunity many years ago to explore her interest in learning different mediums and began taking the time to travel and attend Mixed Media workshops taught by well-known artists such as: Composition and Color theory with Claudine Hellmuth; Assemblage with Michael Demeng; Making Paper with Carol Nelson; Polymer Clay with Lisa Pavelka; Bricologe with Clarissa Callesen; Mixed Media Mosaics with Laura Mika; Collage Secrets with Andrea Matus; Acrylic Painting with Dee Julian and Rebecca Schweiger; and Forging Metal Jewelry with Jen Cushman, Imaginary Creatures with Carla Sonheim and Scrap booking with illustrator Lewis Rossignol.  She’s taken classes, as well, in bookmaking, encaustic wax, texture arts, calligraphy, illustration, formal acrylic painting, watercolor painting, alcohol inks, pen and ink drawing and more.  All of these techniques are used and incorporated in her artworks.

Tracy also has a passion for pottery and has studied wheel and hand-building under Donna Torrance, Rinny Ryan and sculpture with Doug Corsini and Beth Wiese. Other techniques were learned from: Colored Porcelain with Chris Campbell, Whimsical Teapots with Hayne Bayless, Zen Doodling on Clay Canvases with Laura Fraedrich as well as learning techniques from many other talented potters.
